Studio Policies and Guidelines

Please note the following guidelines regarding all classes:

  1. PAYMENT POLICIES

  • Tuition is due on the 1st of the month.  Tuition can be paid online through your parent portal, by check in person, or by mail (PO Box 1268, Dover, NH 03820), or by cash (in person at the studio).  Tuition paid after the 10th of the month will be subject to a $20 late fee.  Auto Pay is available through your parent portal.  Contact the office for more details.

  • Returned check fee is $35.

  • Registration fees and deposits are nonrefundable.

  • Tuition will not be prorated for missed classes due to illness, snow days, or personal commitments.  You are welcome to make-up any class missed.

  • Any class with 4 or less students may be cancelled.  If an alternative class is not available, a refund may be issued.

  • You will be receiving a statement from our office for your monthly tuition.  You may also check your account online at any time.

Any student with an overdue balance of more than 60 days will not be allowed into class until payment in full is received or payment arrangements have been made.

If for any reason you decide to discontinue your classes, you are not obligated to pay for the balance of the school year, however you will be responsible for any balance due.  To withdraw from classes, you must send a formal email to the office to stop billing.  A return email is required to stop billing.  If you don’t receive a return email, please follow up.

2.         DRESS CODE

  • We request that students carefully observe our dress code outlined on our website.

  • Please refrain from wearing dangling earrings, necklaces, bracelets, large rings, or any jewelry that may interfere with movement.  Hair must be up and out of each dancer’s face.  All hair must be in a bun for ballet classes.

3.         PARKING

  • Parking is available in the parking lot adjacent to the church.  You can also park for free on Church Street.  The building entrance is the entrance with parking lot access.  You can exit the building through the parking lot exit, or the Church Street exit.

4.         BUILDING

  • Since we may not be the only occupants of our space during classes, please be respectful of other groups using the facilities by staying in the designated areas.

  • There is an elevator on the premises.  Please use the stairs unless you absolutely need to use the elevator.  All elevator use must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

  • Make sure you clean up after yourselves.  Make sure all trash is in a receptacle before you leave.  If you bring something with you, please make sure you have it when you leave.

  • The building will be open to us 30 minutes prior to the first class of the day.

5.         CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE

  • All students are encouraged to arrive at least 10 minutes early for class.  Any student arriving more than 15 minutes late may not be admitted to class.  For your safety and to receive full benefit from your class, please arrange for a make-up class if you expect to be very late.  Notify the office by phone or text if you are running more than 10 minutes late.

  • All students are encouraged to stay in the dance room once class has begun. Please allow for appropriate restroom use prior to class.  Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. Preschool children may need a parent’s attention from time to time for various reasons including bathroom or behavior issues. Please do not leave the waiting room when very young children are in class without informing the office or having another parent responsible during your absence. We make every effort to have all children feel safe and cared for in a loving and inspiring learning environment.

  • School age children and teens: please practice respect towards all staff, parents and fellow students.  Students are not to be socializing in a disruptive manner during the class with other students.  Please honor your teacher and fellow students by giving full attention and co-operation.  You will be advised if we feel any student is not well adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time.

  • During class if a student complains of being ill, or sustains an injury and cannot participate, the instructor will send them to the office.  The parents will be notified if not on the premises.

  • Only students with a pre-existing sickness/injury are allowed to observe class.  The parents must notify the office if a student is to observe class.

6.         ATTENDANCE

  • Attendance is very important for dancers at every age and ability level.

  • Make every effort to attend all classes, and when absent, please call ahead to inform the office and arrange a suitable make-up class.

  • Company members see company guidelines for your attendance guidelines.

Dance class is education and fun, however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for teachers and fellow students. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at East Coast Dance Complex will be a pleasure for all concerned.
